Melissa Bui

19.07.2016

Fashion designer Melissa Bui loves her embroidery. What began as a simple fascination turned into a fun, full-time obsession. It was her love for these creative intricacies that propelled her to specialise in this art at the prestigious London College of Fashion.

Launched in 2013, Melissa’s eponymous line consists of tops, skirts, jackets, dresses and gowns that derive their overall inspiration from her travels and nature elements. But it is her emphasis on embroidery that really gives her designs an ethereal personality of their own. The tiny details involved in the patient, beading process make the pieces more unique and distinctive – bringing a higher level of appreciation and gratitude to the hands that gently worked on each design.

Having previously learned under respected fashion names like British designer Matthew Williamson and Hong Kong designers Vivian Luk and Barney Cheng, Melissa takes this rich experience and adds her own feminine, whimsical touch to her own brand. A bit of magic we would say that makes every girl in Melissa Bui feel like they’ve stepped out of a dream.
